Nusa Penida: What You Probably Didn't Know and Why You Must Stay Overnight

Hi, this time I wanna share about my trip to Nusa Penida back in September 2019. This time I go there with my friend and we decide to stay there for 2 nights. We rent a motorcycle to explore the island and we stay at hotel named Dungkap Mount View.
The hotel is located in the middle of Nusa Penida. Well it's a bit far from everywhere, in fact we need to ride about 17km or more to every spot we want to visit. But, I would recommend this hotel because of the atmosphere. It's cold at night and pretty dark, so some stars will show up.



Well, some tour opertator at Bali provide a one day tour to Nusa Penida with standard package and spot like Broken Beach, Angel's Billabong, Kelingking Beach, and Crystal Bay. In this article, I wanna show you why you must explore more from this island. But to explore more you need to stay overnight there, like I do. Here's why you should stay overnight and explore more than a day tour at Penida:

1. Track Down at Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is the most favourite place here because of the T-Rex rock. Well, people usually only view it from top side which is having a queue for taking photos. This time I want to try something different, I want to track down the rock, into the beach. Well, I warn you it won't be easy because the rock is really steep while going down, but fortunately it have a rope you can grab to prevent you from falling.
Well, it took about 30-45 minutes to go down, depend on how much you rest and taking photos.

2. Sunset at Kelingking Beach

Evening boat usually leave Penida at 5pm. So you will miss the sunset if you take on day tour. Well, after tracking down to Kelingking Beach, I decide to go back just before sunset because it's not too hot anymore and I want to enjouy sunset from top spot.
Well, the view didn't dissapoint:

3. The East Coast

The east coast of Nusa Penida have one of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen. The views from Atuh Beach and Diamond Beach was simply amazing, so don't miss it.
The east coast is far from the harbour, it takes about 1 hour drive here. So, if you take only a day tour here, it usually not include The east coast.

4. Night View at Penida

Well, of course if you spend only one day tour here, you won't be able to enjoy the night view here. I spent every night just at hotel, but the views is great especially if you have clear sky and love the stars like me.. if you have your hotel near the attraction, maybe you can enjoy the night view on the famous spot though. Well, I have reason to come back there now.. ^^

Some Warning for you:

1. If you want to ride a motorcycle, please make sure you are good at it because some road there is in very bad condition and slopy. If you're not ready, please rent a car instead
2. Be careful when you decide to track down at Kelingking Beach because you will literally do a rock climbing there. But don't worry there is rope and bamboo along the way to help you balancing. And of course prepare your stamina.
3. Be careful when you ride at night because most road has no lighting and when there is no house around it will get really dark.
4. Please fill your gas tank at west side of the island, because at east side the gas price is much higher.
5. At the end always be careful when exploring the beach here, because the waves can get really high. Just don't play to close to the edge and always be cautious.
